A cluster of buildings owned by the Christian Brothers’ Collage (CBC) was bought by the University of Pretoria (UP) in 1968. The Drama Building was one of 5 buildings purchased and was originally the old CBC staff dormitory. Built in 1928 by Clark & Downie (PTY) Ltd, it became home to the departments of Archaeology, African Languages, and Anthropology when ownership was transferred to UP.
The Drama Department moved into the building in 1982. The building has since been named the Drama Building and is well known for its verandas and social courtyard, where drama students are often seen rehearsing.
