The heritage mapping of Stilbaai Oos is an ongoing project. Certain heritage indicators such as sites of historic significance, and all structures, areas and elements older than 60 years are in the process of being mapped. This initiative by HPA is aligned with the NHRA 25 of 1999 (National Heritage Resources Act 25 of 1999), with the aim to introduce an interactive and integrated system for the management of heritage assets. This process is also aligned with the National Heritage & Cultural Tourism Strategy and could unlock potential tourism to the Cape Southern Coast, where archaeological excavations at the nearby Blombos Caves are of global significance.
