A private residence designed for an entrepreneur karate master and his family. The dressed sandstone blocks were harvested from ruins on their family farm in the eastern Highveld. The abundantly available sandstone was used extensively to construct farm buildings.
The barrel-arched roofs with large floating overhangs (eaves) are inspired by Asian architectural design principles. They provide shade and are believed to ward off evil spirits.
